Railway Infrastructures

OHL is a reference in the execution of railway infrastructure projects in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. It is the first Spanish company to have executed a high-speed section abroad, specifically in Turkey, of 206 km. long in Istanbul-Ankara rail, which is operational since 2009. It has also executed the first construction project to be achieved by a Spanish company in the U.S. railway sector, by extending the Miami subway to Miami International Airport (State of Florida).

In addition to these achievements, it has participated in the Al Shoula Spain-Saudi Arabia joint venture to execute the second stage of the Haramain High Speed Rail project between Mecca and Medina, and it has undertaken large projects for railway corridors in the Czech Republic. OHL Group executes these projects through specialized subsidiaries as OHL ŽS and OHL ŽPSV, both with over 60 years’ history, are participating in the update and development of railway infrastructures in the Czech Republic and neighboring markets; G&O, specialized in execution of infrastructures and superstructures; and E&M, focused on the execution of railway electrification projects and electrical installations.

OHL Construcción has won the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Ski contract in Norway, that involves reconstructing the Ski railway station and extending it to connect with the high-speed line (Follo Line). In Sweden, OHL has won a contract to upgrade the line between Lund and Arlöv (Malmö), one of the busiest railroad routes in the country.
